Sue SUSMAN - I'm glad I was in Paris in the jazz singer's workshop. It was wonderful being there with you all. I learned a lot, had a wonderful time, met some wonderful people and got to sing in a Paris nightclub. Just the stuff that dreams are made of. It was a wonderful privilege and something great to be a part of. I'm so glad I got to go. - Sue SUSMAN - Chicago, Illinois, USA
Amy LECHELT - I am more than happy to give my thumbs-up to the Paris Jazz Workshop!  Over-all, it was an exceptional experience and I left wanting more (if possible, I will take it again next year!)  Keri, Maja and Claudia provided such valuable information to be used as I continue to grow as a singer.  Such as, how to communicate with muscians properly (so you do not come off as a "complete-newbie"), basics of theory (so important!), song arrangement, microphone skill, the dfference in using charts vs. sheet music (and how to make your own charts!), breath control and exercises.  We also had the opportunity to practice with a few pianists, which is great as each pianist has his or her own style and valuable input.  And, finally, the opportunity to use our training in our final performance at a jazz club!  This is not a voice lessoon, but in my opinion, offers that which you don't get from your vocal coach.  Both, equally as important! - Amy LECHELT - Chicago, USA

Carmen BODINO - I built up courage to take up the course, June 2014, at the Jazz Vocal Academy International as an excuse to return to the city that I love, Paris.

I hated jazz before Paris. But love is knowledge and knowledge I got from the Academy.
The different tools of learning gave me more exposure; the historic jazz walk through Black Montmarte, thrilling; and finally, performing at Cafe Universel with the trio instrumentalists, unforgettable. I have not stopped pursuing it since then. That experience brought me to attend other jazz workshops this year. It isn’t easy for me. Jazz is earned through life experience, I think. Life experience I have but not the ability to sing it. It is exciting to discover jazz "this late in my lifetime". There are no regrets, only moments of overwhelming information and freedom of self-expression. Besides, being in class with fellow Chicagoans and meeting French singers/musicians was real fun!

Thank you for creating the Academy and for inviting two other inspiring members of the faculty: Claudia Hommel and Maja Savic. - Carmen BODINO - Chicago, Illinois, USA
